Chile. With the aim of improving safety conditions for workers and patients, several hospitals in Chile have incorporated modern video surveillance systems in key areas such as maternity and waiting rooms.
For example, since 2011, the Regional Hospital of Concepción has implemented monitoring technology in its neonatology and maternity units, in order to protect newborns and provide greater peace of mind to families.
Ren He, general director of Dahua Technology in Chile, points out that "the implementation of video surveillance systems not only increases patient protection, but also creates a safer and more regulated environment for the medical and administrative team."
According to information from the Ministry of Health, during 2023, 9,862 events affecting medical and administrative employees were counted. In this context, the purpose of the use of technological tools is to provide a more protected environment, promoting respect and adequate conditions for the work of health personnel.
Ren He details that cameras that incorporate technologies into easy-to-operate platforms facilitate the joint management of video surveillance, intelligent analysis and access control by biometrics. Biometrics, based on physical or behavioral characteristics such as traces, faces, or iris patterns, uses sophisticated algorithms and machine learning to confirm identities accurately.
According to Ren He, Dahua's solutions make it possible to detect "unusual or unauthorized movements, send real-time alerts, and facilitate rapid mobilization of security personnel." It also highlights that "biometric access controls, both fingerprint and facial, ensure that only authorized personnel access restricted areas, crucial for the safety of patients, health personnel and visitors." He adds that intercom systems help improve workflow and coordination between areas.
Among the challenges identified by the sector, Ren He mentions that "the challenges include comprehensive management from access management, control of restricted areas and traceability of goods and assets".
To meet these needs, Dahua proposes solutions focused on data generation through video recording. Ren He indicates that "our advanced video surveillance systems integrate cameras with artificial intelligence that can identify patterns of behavior, combine with access control systems, alarms and sensors, offering a centralized management platform.
This allows for more efficient management and control. We develop real-time privacy tiles to ensure privacy during monitoring and fall detection systems to alert personnel about possible incidents. Communication devices for stretchers ensure continuous communication during patient transfer, improving coordination and response in emergency circumstances.
These tools could also be used in Family Health Centers (Cesfam), contributing to a more monitored environment and better conditions for the care of users.
