Latin America. Siemens announced the appointment of Miguel D'Alessio as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for its operation in Colombia. The appointment is part of the company's plans to consolidate its presence in the country and continue promoting projects in electrification, automation, energy transition and digitalization.
D'Alessio previously led the Digital Industries business unit in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, where he worked on projects related to industrial automation and digitalization in sectors such as oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, mining, food and beverages, automotive, chemicals and energy.
"I am excited to take on this new challenge in Colombia, a country with extraordinary potential for innovation and sustainable development. My goal is to work together with the great interdisciplinary team that develops the operation in the country to maintain our leadership position in the market and contribute to the progress of the local industry," said D'Alessio after his appointment.
He is an electronic engineer from the University of Buenos Aires and has an MBA from ITBA Business School.
Siemens in Colombia
The German company Siemens has been present in Colombia since 1907 and formalized its operation as Siemens Colombiana S.A.S. in 1954. It currently has about 590 employees and offices in Bogotá, in addition to operational coverage in regions such as Antioquia, Valle del Cauca, Atlántico, Boyacá, Santanderes, Cundinamarca and Quindío. From the country it also serves operations in Venezuela, Aruba, Guyana, Bonaire, Curaçao and other Caribbean territories.
In Tenjo (Cundinamarca), Siemens has an assembly workshop in which control and protection panels for electrical substations are produced and examined.

According to information from the company, Siemens technologies are found in more than 10,000 production processes in Colombia. The company reported a 2% increase during fiscal 2024, despite an economic outlook characterized by slowdown, inflation, and prudence in both public and private investment.

Hydrogen, with combined solutions for electrification, manufacturing, storage, distribution and application in the industrial and energy sectors.
Pharmaceutical industry, through automation and process control for traceability and regulatory compliance, with a presence in Antioquia, Cundinamarca and Valle del Cauca.
Renewable energies, especially solar and wind, with a focus on Atlántico, Bolívar and La Guajira.
Metals, with extractive potential in the department of Córdoba.
Cement industry, with opportunities in process and supply chain digitalization, in regions such as Boyacá, Antioquia, Tolima, Valle del Cauca and Atlántico.
The company has indicated that it will continue to focus its operations on electrification, automation, digitalization and services, integrating aspects of sustainability and cybersecurity both in its activities and those of its partners.
