United States. The U.S. self-storage company Extra Space Storage implemented a comprehensive video surveillance solution developed by Bolide Technology Group to strengthen the security of its facilities, optimize operational supervision and improve the protection of its customers' belongings in multiple locations in the United States.
As one of the nation's largest self-storage providers, Extra Space Storage was challenged to maintain constant surveillance on large properties, where multiple access points, loading areas, interior hallways, elevators, and parking areas converge.
Among the main needs identified were the permanent supervision of large outdoor areas, the obtaining of high-resolution video evidence for the investigation of incidents and disputes, as well as the possibility of remote access to live and recorded images from different locations. In addition, some legacy systems lacked modern intelligent analysis tools and had limitations in image quality at night.
Scalable platform for multiple locations
To respond to these requirements, Bolide Technology Group deployed a video surveillance platform based on IP cameras and network video recorders (NVRs) compliant with the NDAA regulations.
The solution included 5 and 8 megapixel bullet and turret cameras for indoor and outdoor applications, infrared and color night vision equipment, as well as Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) technology for environments with varying lighting conditions. Likewise, artificial intelligence functions were incorporated for the detection of people and vehicles.
The system was complemented by NVR recorders for continuous video storage and playback, Bolide VMS software for centralized multi-site management, and the QuickConnect mobile app, which allows administrators to remotely access live footage, recordings, and alerts from mobile devices.
According to the company, the implemented architecture offers a scalable platform that facilitates future expansions, reduces training times thanks to an intuitive interface, and guarantees the preservation of recordings for long periods to support investigations and verification processes.
Increased safety and operational efficiency
After implementation, Extra Space Storage reported improvements in surveillance coverage at entrances, corridors, access lanes, elevators and parking lots, which has contributed to strengthening deterrence against theft, vandalism and unauthorized access.
The new infrastructure has also made it possible to speed up the retrieval of video evidence for incident review and improve response times to customer queries and complaints.
Operationally, remote monitoring reduced the need for frequent on-site inspections, while centralized video management made it easier to monitor operations across locations from a single platform.
According to Bolide Technology Group, the solution has also helped bolster customer confidence in facility security and support Extra Space Storage's growth strategy through a technology infrastructure that is ready for future expansion.
