In an interview with Security Sales, Bruno Sangtae Byun, Hanwha Vision's representative for Latin America, explained how the company has been consolidating its technological strategy in the region and what developments are marking its portfolio.
"Hanwha Vision is a brand that is already more than 30 years old. We have chipset technology, also AI, and we have our own factories. We are selling solutions. For example, we are very strong in the vertical, video surveillance, Smart City sector," he said.
The spokesperson stressed that the new solutions include video analytics and artificial intelligence tools applied to different sectors. "We search with Forensic Search that you don't need many people to search for things; they can record all the images, cars, agents, dogs, men," he explained.
Regarding the security impacts in the region, he said: "We have many success stories. Everyone is using our AI cameras. For example, gun detection or detection of the sounds of bullets or screams. And we at Hanwha already have all these technologies."
He added that the company works with platforms in alliance with NVIDIA and third-party developers: "For example, Skylar has a solution with our Jason Camera. They can detect gun detection, with more than 95% effectiveness."
On the usefulness in social contexts, he commented: "Many people ask us that before they gather in protests, there is a prior alarm. With all these requirements, we can implement it because we also have an AI laboratory and developments from our R&D Team."
In addition to urban video surveillance, the company has expanded its solutions to industrial sectors. "Now we, the cameras used to be only for security. But now cameras can do a lot of things. We have an AI Pack solution for industry or factory. For example, that camera, just a camera, can give an alarm if a load approaches people, if it exceeds a certain speed or if there is water that could cause a slip," he said.
Finally, Bruno referred to the advances in cybersecurity and the relationship with cloud services: "We, Hanwha company, as a manufacturer, always comply with the standards of all the rules of the United States, Europe or Korea. Cybersecurity is most important in sectors such as banking. Now the camera can connect to clouds, but there are also risks for data protection."
