Latin America. At the ALAS - Latin American Security Association Technology Meeting, held recently in Medellín, a group of experts discussed the factors that frequently cause errors in security projects from their implementation stage.
The panel, entitled "Common mistakes in the implementation of security projects", was attended by Luisa Montoya, general manager of Tecnocomer; Carlos Alberto Sánchez, from Syntesys Tecnológica; and Alejandro Arango Vélez, coordinator of Public Risk and Citizen Coexistence of the Medellín Metro.
Among the most common difficulties, the panelists pointed out flaws in the initial design, lack of coordination between technical and operational departments, and problems in properly incorporating technological solutions. In addition, it warned about the lack of early validation of the requirements, which could result in costly modifications or inefficient results.
The specialists emphasized the importance of robust strategic planning, which includes the active involvement of all participants from the early stages of the project. Additionally, they highlighted the relevance of constant and effective communication between designers, operators and users of the system.
The dialogue concluded with useful suggestions to minimize risks and optimize the realization of projects, stressing that the success is based both on the technological element and on the cooperation between the different areas.
