Latin America. Vertiv demonstrated progress in its environmental strategy through the One Vertiv, One World program, focused on energy efficiency and reducing the ecological impact in data centers, an essential infrastructure for digitalization.
Within the framework of Earth Day, the company underscored the relevance of data centers in modern life and the need to develop sustainable strategies for their expansion. According to industry estimates, these centers currently use 1.5% of global energy, a percentage that could increase with the progress of artificial intelligence to preserve the user's personal information.
The One Vertiv, One World plan establishes guidelines for implementing solutions aimed at reducing energy consumption, improving resource efficiency and minimizing carbon emissions. Vertiv reported that these actions involve more than 31,000 employees globally.
In Latin America, the data center construction sector is expected to reach $7.81 billion by 2029, with an annual growth rate of more than 8.7%. This scenario presents challenges related to efficiency in operations, sustainability and technological adaptability.
Vertiv noted that it constantly monitors key indicators such as energy utilization, water use, carbon emissions, waste generation, recycling rates, and ecological safety protocols. In addition, it uses its Vertiv (VOS) system to optimize production processes and the use of resources.
Among its additional initiatives, the company highlighted the creation of the Vertiv Forest in collaboration with Treedom, through which 5,186 trees have been planted in 12 nations, in order to contribute to carbon capture and biodiversity.
