The incorporation of technology transforms the electronic security scenario in Latin America

Latin America. Digitalization is dismantling the obstacles between industries that traditionally differentiated themselves. Today, technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), the cloud and IP-based solutions are driving unprecedented convergence in fields such as audiovisual, automation, transmission, lighting and, increasingly rapidly, electronic security.

This incorporation of technology is not simply a fad, but an operational requirement. In the field of security, video surveillance, access control and alarm systems have abandoned their operation as independent devices. They are currently linked to more extensive platforms, which are compatible with artificial intelligence, data analytics, smart buildings and interconnected urban environments.

From closed systems to open ecosystems

The transition from closed architectures to IP systems has led to this convergence. Devices that previously operated autonomously now share real-time information with management programs, automation sensors, or even mobile device applications for end users. This integration enables faster incident responses, more efficient operations, and informed decisions.

The IoT is also playing a vital role: smart sensors that can identify presence, temperature or noise levels merge with security systems to trigger alarms, modify lighting or block access automatically.

According to Genetec, "it is estimated that by 2030 there will be around 30 billion IoT devices in use, almost triple those existing in 2020. Some industry experts even believe that this figure could be reached sooner."

One of the most relevant areas within this ecosystem, focused on connecting sensors, machinery and systems within industries and companies. This enables improvements in electronic security, operational efficiency, and infrastructure management. According to data cited by Genetec, "the global IIoT market could reach $1.74 trillion by 2030, with an annual growth rate of more than 20%."

Integratec: a meeting place for the future of industry

In this context, Integratec emerges as a strategic site to carry out this integration.  The event will bring together specialists and companies from fields such as electronic security, audiovisual security, Information Technology infrastructure and automation, in order to explore opportunities for innovation, interoperability and joint development.

In its next edition to be held on August 13 and 14, 2025, participants will have the opportunity to learn about integrated solutions that merge security with building management, lighting, sound and electronic security. In addition, panel discussions and networking spaces designed to foster partnerships between manufacturers, integrators and end users will be held.

One of Integratec's strengths will be its focus on technical training. In addition, examples of success will be shown in which technological convergence has significantly boosted operational results.

An industry that shouldn't go backwards

Electronic security can no longer be considered as a separate vertical. The pattern is clear: convergence, interoperability, and information-driven solutions. This not only increases security, but also produces operational efficiency, new revenue streams, and a more robust user experience.
