Latin America. In the most recent edition of the Smart Cities Latam event, held in Medellín, Colombia's intermediary cities played an important role in presenting their progress in urban planning, sustainability and technological innovation.
Through the Asointermedias association, mayors and delegates from municipalities such as Mosquera, Istmina, Aguachica, Lorica, Turbaco, Itagüí, El Retiro, Rionegro, Guarne, Guatapé, Envigado, Caldas, Sabaneta and El Carmen de Viboral, among others, shared experiences aimed at the development of more efficient and inclusive cities.
The event functioned as a means to highlight the leadership of these cities in the implementation of intelligent administration models, merging technology, social innovation and the involvement of citizens. "This type of place facilitates the recognition of the public administration from a point of view of what innovation and technology have implied," said Nelson Parra Laguna, mayor of Mosquera, who highlighted the role of local governments in the transition to smart cities.
Corporate and technological influence
In addition, the day was attended by delegations from capital cities such as Medellín, Bogotá, Cartagena and Cali, along with international delegations from nations such as Argentina, Peru and Spain. Technology companies, universities and participants in the innovation ecosystem presented several initiatives focused on raising the quality of life in cities.
Hikvision was one of the relevant companies, presenting its solutions in video surveillance, artificial intelligence and data analysis. In this sense, Giovanny Roncancio, Vertical Pre-Sales Engineer PBG Hikvision Colombia, told Security Sales: "Hikvision has a national presence in various contexts and cities, providing technological solutions that strengthen public security systems and support the administration of local governments."
