The New Abnormality: Who Are the Winners and Losers in a Zero-Emission World?
Ian Bremmer, president of Eurasia Group, will analyze the challenges of today's geopolitics. According to Bremmer, "we have entered a period of increased geopolitical and market volatility, which I call the 'New Abnormality.' In recent years, we have witnessed a financial crisis, a global recession, the eurozone crisis, and the Arab Spring. All of this is taking place in the context of a G-Zero world: an environment where no country or group of countries is willing or able to sustainably define the international agenda."
Bremmer added that this lack of leadership "will undermine our ability over the next decade to maintain peace in Asia and the Middle East, boost the growth of the global economy, reverse the impact of climate change, feed growing populations, and protect the most basic needs: air, food, and water. Its effects will be felt in all regions of the world, including in cyberspace."
