International. HID has signed an agreement to acquire Calmell Group, a Spanish company specializing in the manufacture of smart cards, paper smart tickets and magnetic stripe tickets, mainly for the public transport sector.
With this acquisition, HID seeks to strengthen its portfolio of solutions for intelligent ticketing and management, as well as consolidate its presence in regions such as Spain, the European Union, North Africa and Latin America.

Headquartered in Barcelona, Calmell Group was founded in 1920 as a printing company specialising in graphic products and over time evolved into the manufacture of transport ticketing technologies.
The company will be integrated into HID's Identification Technologies area, within the Event and Mobility Solutions business unit, led by Cesare Paciello. It will be supported by HID's commercial network and other operational functions.
