United States. Veeam Software today announced the launch of Agent Commander, a solution aimed at helping organizations detect risks associated with artificial intelligence, protect AI-based systems and reverse errors generated by autonomous agents, a topic that is becoming relevant in today's information security environments.
The tool seeks to respond to the new challenges that arise with the massive adoption of AI agents within companies, where the speed of operation of these systems can represent risks for the protection of sensitive data, access control and information governance.
Agent Commander emerges as the first technology integration following the acquisition of Securiti AI and will be available in a future version of Securiti Data Command Center, incorporating advanced data security and resiliency capabilities.
"AI operates at rapid speed, which means organizations need to understand what data is being used, by what agent, and in what form, in real time. If an error occurs, they not only need to identify what data was affected, but also have the ability to quickly reverse any impact," said Anand Eswaran. "With Agent Commander, businesses know what data is powered by AI and gain the power to detect, protect, and, when necessary, reverse AI actions with speed and accuracy. It represents the future of what is expected in data security and resiliency, and it's only possible because of Veeam's unified platform."
In the context of enterprise security, one of the main challenges is that traditional AI data protection, cybersecurity, and governance controls are often separated, limiting visibility into how AI agents access, use, or modify information.
This can lead to risk scenarios such as the use of Shadow AI, exposure of sensitive data, or unauthorized automated actions. Due to the speed at which these systems operate, an AI agent can access critical information in seconds, whereas traditional detection and remediation processes can take hours or even days.
To address this issue, Agent Commander integrates AI data resiliency and risk management capabilities into a single control plane, providing contextual visibility into how data, digital identities, AI models, and autonomous agents interact within enterprise infrastructure.
At the core of the solution is the Veeam Data Command Graph, a real-time relational intelligence engine that enables mapping the connections between data, identities and AI agents in both production and backup environments, making it easier to identify risk combinations within the digital ecosystem.
Building on this architecture, the solution offers three main capabilities for security and IT teams:
- Detect AI risks with context, identifying Shadow AI, sensitive data exposure, and risky agent behaviors.
- Protect AI flows autonomously, through granular, real-time controls over data, identities, and AI agents, regardless of model provider or cloud environment.
- Reverse AI errors accurately, restoring trusted data without the need to roll back entire systems.
"As AI becomes operational infrastructure, companies can no longer treat data protection, data security, and AI, privacy, and governance as separate disciplines," Rehan Jalil noted. "Controlling AI risk is virtually impossible in isolated environments or without deep contextual intelligence on autonomous data, permissions, and agents. Agent Commander unifies control between production and backup to detect risk combinations, enforce granular policies, and accurately reverse AI-driven actions. This is the necessary foundation to operate AI safely at enterprise scale."
From a market perspective, industry analysts believe that the integration of capabilities following the acquisition of Securiti AI can strengthen data security and AI management strategies within organizations.
- Publicidad -"Acquisitions often raise the question of how combined strengths can create new value for customers," said Todd Thiemann, Principal Analyst for AIM & Data Security at Omdia. "Veeam's announcement provides a clear roadmap for integrating capabilities and delivering enhanced solutions to organizations looking to protect their data and AI environments. The focus on Agent Commander demonstrates Veeam's commitment to delivering both operational efficiency and end-to-end security for AI agents."
The company reported that interested parties will be able to request early access to the solution while its development progresses within the Securiti Data Command Center platform.
