International. Milestone Systems announced updates across its security technology portfolio, including new versions of XProtect video management software, BriefCam's AI analytics and Arcules' cloud video surveillance. According to the company, "each of these products provides security professionals with more powerful tools to protect people and assets, while optimizing operations."
These updates, Milestone Systems noted, seek to strengthen integrated security solutions to meet today's challenges, from on-premise operations to cloud deployments and advanced analytics. "Security teams can now take advantage of these improvements across all three platforms," the company said.
Access Control Monitoring
In the new version of XProtect 2025 R2, the Smart Map feature incorporates access control directly into the interface, allowing operators to visualize gates and access points—"card readers, gates, turnstiles, and other devices that restrict physical entry to the facility"—on the same map as the cameras. According to the statement, "when an event is detected by the access control system, the door icon on the map is automatically updated," making it easier for operators to quickly identify anomalous situations.
Similarly, it allows "managing alarms and controlling doors directly from the map interface, saving valuable time during security incidents in which every second counts".
Workflow Practice Improvements
Among the improvements incorporated are new functions for capturing images during investigations. Operators will now be able to include timestamps and camera information directly in the images. According to the statement, this feature was "highly requested" and facilitates traceability in reports.
The Smart Client also integrates HTML content and image/text functions, simplifying the creation of security dashboards.
Integration and developer support
For development partners, XProtect 2025 R2 enhances the Milestone Integration Platform by adding geo-positioning of access control devices and support for a greater number of video codecs in web applications.
The company also announced that version 2.0.0 of Milestone AI Bridge is officially available for operational deployment, with the aim of "making it easier for organizations to integrate artificial intelligence into their video security systems."
