Argentina. The TETRA radio system will expand coverage and capabilities to support the Police in their mission to take care of the community.
The province of San Luis, in Argentina, announced that it is implementing a mission-critical radio communications system from Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) for its Provincial Police. The TETRA system will expand coverage and enable new capabilities for the front line of assistance to help protect communities across the province.
"This new TETRA system represents a decisive step in our commitment to improving community safety," said Javier Salomon, San Luis Director of Technology and Safety. "The limited coverage of our previous analogue system made it difficult for emergency services to communicate. Motorola Solutions' new system expands coverage and enables interoperability between our nine police departments across the province to support real-time collaboration, shorter response times and greater operational efficiency."
TETRA radio technology is also used by the province of Santa Fe and will also interoperate with systems in the neighboring provinces of Córdoba and San Juan to facilitate robust coordination between police forces for a rapid and unified response to national security threats.
The first phase of the system's expansion will extend coverage to San Luis, Villa Mercedes and Merlo, while introducing new critical capabilities. Group calls will improve intercity coordination, and geolocation will allow the Provincial Police to locate and direct agents in the field more accurately, improving response times and operational efficiency.
"The province of St. Louis spans nearly 77,000 square kilometers across mountains, deserts and lakes, presenting unique considerations when it comes to voice communications for emergency services," said Elton Borgonovo, MSSSI vice president for Motorola Solutions' Latin America and Caribbean region. "The deployment of our new TETRA system will help keep security personnel more connected across the diverse terrain and better serve everyone in every corner of the province."
