Colombia. A new CCTV video surveillance system will be installed in the communes of Cali, located in the south of this country. The councilors of the city participated in the socialization of the CCTV electronic security model "Closed Circuit of surveillance cameras", a procedure in charge of the Ministry of Security and Justice.
In that sense, the communes of Cali will receive new equipment of video surveillance cameras, community alarms, panic buttons, drones and security fronts to improve the response times of the public force throughout the city.
The President of the Council, Fabio Alonso Arroyave Botero, stressed the importance of seeking joint solutions and providing the security that Caleños require to overcome insecurity and regain confidence in institutions.
The Vice President of the Corporation, Henry Peláez Cifuentes, requested that the proposal be articulated with the councilors in the communes and make them participants in the work of the Secretariat of Security and Justice, also indicated the importance of working together with the other secretariats, especially the Mobility Secretariat.
The Councilors María Isabel Moreno Salazar and Richard Rivera Campo, considered it essential to have the necessary budget to not neglect any commune, as well as to establish the execution time that is foreseen for the Security Plan, in addition to including the rural area in this electronic model.
Councilwoman Natalia Lasso Ospina, warned that microtrafficking must be monitored and combated, while Councilman Roberto Ortiz Urueña indicated the need to link young people within this strategy and accompany them with a social intervention in which they relate to the secretariats of Culture, Education and others, in order to limit their participation in different crimes.
Councilwoman Alexandra Hernández Cedeño, said that it will be key to start this program covering those places or communes where theft and robberies are frequently recorded, and allow the quadrants to move without limitations when the community requires it. "It's vital to know when this program starts and when it ends.
Councilwoman Tania Fernández Sánchez, finally maintained the need to socialize and transcend in the information towards the Cali community. "It is important to communicate all the security strategies in the communes, because people often do not know what the secretariat is doing in this area due to the lack of disclosure," said the Cabildante.
