Colombia. Opain, administrator of Bogotá's El Dorado Airport, recently acquired ten thermal cameras in order to strengthen measures for the proper management of suspected cases and thus prevent the spread of COVID-19.
These thermal cameras allow people to take their temperatures, without the need to be handled by medical personnel, thus avoiding primary contact and reducing the possibility of contagion.
The cameras will be installed as they arrive in the country.
The first camera installed is Dahua Thermal Solution brand and is located at the arrival of international flights. It can measure the temperature of up to 15 people at the same time, a fact that improves the times of the medical processes advanced so far for the control of COVID--19. In addition, it has a passenger count and identifies when a person travels without masks.
Currently, Colombia and Argentina are the only countries in Latin America that have this technology that, in Asia, has already been implemented. Throughout the Asian continent and especially in China, this technology is distributed in shopping centers, banks, business parks, airports, ministries and public places of high concentration of people in order to mitigate the risk of contagion of the coronavirus.
Chao Wu, general manager of Dahua Technology Colombia SAS, affirms: "with this facility we are offering a faster and more effective alternative for the control of passengers in the air terminals of Colombia, we are prepared and we have the experience in Asia where we support health specialists through alerts of detection of people who were transiting in cities with high body temperatures".
How does it work?
The Dahua Thermal Solution has the Black body, a sensor connected to a server to which it sends all the information immediately. If the passenger has a fever greater than 37.5 degrees (temperature set under the standards of the competent health entities nationwide), immediately the camera reports it and an audible alarm is activated to activate the necessary medical protocols.
For his part, Andrés Ortega Rezk, manager of Opain (e), assures: "We will continue to look for alternatives and take extraordinary measures in these difficult times, and thereby contribute significantly to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19 in the country."
