With the accompaniment of the Sony company, Marítima Dominicana S.A.S. carried out a significant process of updating its video surveillance system, which allowed them to incorporate state-of-the-art technology that puts them at the forefront in the region in terms of security.

Security Sales: Could you basically describe what the project consists of and what kind of security system was installed?
The purpose of this installation was the replacement of the old analog camera system that existed in the company with new IP cameras with HD-4K resolution in order to meet the current security requirements in our facilities. Likewise, the scope of the system was extended to offices located in other cities which did not have a CCTV system.
SONY cameras with HD, Full HD and 4K resolution were installed with the new SONY VMS.
Security Sales: Tell us what type of institution the security system was installed in, how many buildings were protected, and how many people are in turn protected by the system.
The system was installed in our headquarters, Container Terminal, Logistics Warehouses, container operations areas among others.
Security Sales: Tell us about the security conditions of the city where the installation was made, and the areas where the branches or protected buildings are established. Were there any difficulties or criminal acts that would drive the implementation of a better security system?
The security conditions in our area of action are critical, both because of the proximity to the port of Haina, and to areas of great criminal potential. It was also required to have evidence of the handling of the cargo and possible damage and theft of it in our warehouses, avoiding losses and possible customer claims. The previous system did not meet the minimum requirements and criminal acts were presented in which no evidence could be obtained due to this.
Security Sales: Have there been changes in security legislation in this country and that this fact has motivated the implementation of more robust security systems?
Yes, a new Private Security Act is being discussed in the Senate.
Technical description
Security Sales: Could you talk about the security system that was previously installed? Give us a description of it, if there was one.
The previous system was an eminently analogous system, with about 60 cameras of which only about 20% were in operation and guaranteed a recording time of about 20 days approximately, in 6 analog DVRs.
Please tell us about the technical characteristics of the safety system, operation and differences of the system compared to the models offered by other companies.
At present we have a totally IP system and the analog cameras that still exist, are integrated into it through the use of encoders, we have almost 200 cameras in the system monitoring the different areas. The installed VMS allows us to integrate with other systems and thus have an integrated security system, which allows the use of video analytics and the use of alerts. Unlike other systems, SONY cameras offer a high degree of reliability and robustness in aggressive environmental conditions and their breakdown rate is minimal, in addition to the manufacturer's warranty. SONY also supplies the VMS, ensuring optimal integration with its cameras.
Security Sales: Tell us about the monitoring process that is carried out with this equipment and what other advantages, in addition to surveillance, offer the client.
It is intended to implement video analytics to support commercial and marketing activity, among others.
Security Sales: What are the objectives or purposes of this security system? Is it integrated with other subsystems like alarms or something else?
It is intended to be integrated with Lenel's access control system and in the future with the company's own systems for the management and monitoring of equipment.
