By Scati

Nacex, belonging to the Logista Group, is a company in the express courier segment in Spain, Andorra and Portugal. It currently has 31 logistics platforms and more than 300 franchises.

To consolidate its position "as one of the most advanced courier companies", its logistics platforms have the latest technological advances in recording, merchandise traceability and security.

The objective: the satisfaction of its customers thanks to the delivery of their orders within the time frame committed to them, with complete reliability.

Project description
Inaugurated in November 2018, with 12,140 square meters (equivalent to two football stadiums), it is the largest cross docking platform built in Spain in the last 10 years.

Located in the Industrial Estate of Coslada, the municipality with the most logistics companies in Spain (706), the plant is designed to manage 26,000 shipments / hour, fulfilling the necessary hourly guarantee.

The platform has 114 docks for vans and trucks to load and unload simultaneously at breakneck speed.

To fulfill the commitments acquired with its customers, Nacex invests in state-of-the-art technology that guarantees the delivery of any package in 24 hours.

Challenge
Nacex provides its facilities with an intelligent video system that guarantees the traceability and monitoring of the packages that travel through its platforms, through the recording of the classification processes.

The investment in CrossBelt Technology classifiers, a modern accurate, fast and safe automatic sorting system, minimizes the mechanical impact of the packages through motorized belts that ensure the positioning and exact orientation of the packages throughout the classification process.

Solution
Nacex, a technological pioneer in the logistics sector, has trusted Scati for more than 15 years for its ability to develop tailor-made video solutions for each of its 31 logistics platforms.

Scati's video solution is a customized solution that fully integrates with your warehouse management system (ERP). It guarantees the traceability of each package in the automatic classification systems and resolves any incident, through quick and direct access to a visual check of the recorded video associated with said package.

More than 140 strategically installed cameras visualize the route of each of the packages with special interest in three key points of the process: The induction zones (loading of the merchandise on the tapes), the measurement (point where the packages are weighed, measured, classified and distributed automatically) and the ramps (point of departure from the ship to their corresponding destinations).

The Scati solution allows you to visualize the route of each of the packages and envelopes guaranteeing 100% the resolution of any incident.

Solution Architecture

Figure 1.

Cameras and recording equipment
The video system is composed of 117 SCati EYE bullet IP cameras of 3 Mpx with infrared up to 30 meters that offer great image quality in low light conditions. These cameras incorporate WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) functionalities capable of managing backlights and / or sudden changes in brightness in the scene when the outer gates of the ship are opened.

To support these cameras, the platform has 13 fisheye cameras of up to 6 Mpx that offer a 360º visualization of everything that happens on the platform.

Finally, the accesses have 6 LPR cameras (License Plate Recognition) that allow you to recognize license plates and even manage them through black and white lists defined by those responsible for security.

To guarantee the recording of images for a month 24/7 only four Scati VISION recording platforms are necessary, with high image availability

Video solution for parcel traceability
Scati Percel is a customized solution that integrates video with Nacex's management system for merchandise tracking. It guarantees the traceability of each package in the automatic classification systems and resolves any incident, through quick and direct access to a visual check of the recorded video associated with said package.

The solution is composed of high-definition cameras that visualize the complete route of the packages, from the moment they enter the induction zones, pass through the measurement and automatic classification points until they leave through the corresponding exit ramp.

Along with the capture of images, the system is able to collect information associated with each packet (tracking number, origin, destination, dimensions), and stores this data along with the moments of visual recording of the package at each control point of its route. In this way, traceability is guaranteed.

Thanks to Scati Parcel you can search by tracking number, origin, destination, etc. and visualize the route of each of the packages and locate the exact moment in which your track was lost in any of the distribution centers through which it passes.

Control Center
From the Coslada Control Center, eight operators monitor through a Scati WALL of 8 screens the movements of its 31 distribution centers that Nacex has in Spain and Portugal.

Thanks to Scati WALL, up to 64 cameras can be displayed simultaneously, allowing the configuration of scenarios for automatic visualization. The integration of custom drawings allows this process to be even faster and allows any incident to be resolved in real time.

The system enables the centralized management of all the company's logistics centers. This allows searches to be made for a specific ship, for all platforms or for groups of them; those groups being customizable as well.

Proceeds
Any incident is resolved in record time, so all orders reach your customers in the guaranteed delivery period.

The brand image is exponentially improved by associating itself as the most technologically advanced logistics company and standing out from the competition.

"In the event of any incident, security officials are able to locate and visualize the route of each of the packages where it lost track. Scati's solution, being multiplatform, that is, capable of centralizing the recordings of all logistics platforms, allows to solve 100% any incident regardless of the platform in which it occurred, "says Edgar Otero, Head of Engineering at Nacex.
