Latin America. Tyco Security Products, part of Johnson Controls, introduces iSTAR Ultra Video, a palm-sized solution that provides integrated security for efficient small sites that can be part of enterprise systems.
With Software House's C•CURE 9000 security and event management software or American Dynamics' unified victor client, iSTAR Ultra Video brings access control and video recording capabilities to the edge. In this way, users can remotely control up to eight doors and eight IP video cameras with a single device, without the need for server software at each site.
iSTAR Ultra Video is economical and combines access control and video surveillance capabilities in a single device, reduces installation and infrastructure costs and eliminates the need for separate devices and network connections. With its ability to scale to thousands of sites, it is ideal for enterprise environments with unserved locations that require a high level of security, such as electrical substations, data centers, server farms, fiber optic exchanges, and other service and telecommunications facilities. FIPS 140-2 256-bit AES network encryption, with custom key management and denial-of-service protection, protects the network from potential cyber threats. Up to 500,000 cardholders can be managed in the device's local memory.
With a built-in 1TB storage drive in the device for video surveillance and a separate solid-state storage drive for the local database that stores access controls, iSTAR Ultra Video continues to work even when the network is down and is capable of making access decisions and recording to video until network connectivity is restored. Each iSTAR Ultra Video device includes the firmware of American Dynamics' VideoEdge network video recorders, which allows end users to use transcoding, Smart Search, and other VideoEdge features. Up to 6TB of external storage can be added to the device for increased local recording capacity.
"With iSTAR Ultra Video, enterprise customers can easily extend the power and functionality of their C•CURE 9000 or unified victor system to large networks of distributed locations without many of the traditional installation costs and concerns associated with incorporating separate video and access control products," said Luis Delcampo, Product and Marketing Manager of the Access Control line of Tyco Security Products for Latin America. "This secure and economical solution enables centralized control and monitoring of a security system that can cover even remote locations."
End users can monitor access control and video surveillance events, manage personnel, generate reports, display dynamic views, and monitor system activity from a PC or with victor or C•CURE 9000 unified clients, a web client, or a mobile application. iSTAR Ultra Video provides access control via IP-ACM Ethernet door modules, which feature AES-256 encryption, PoE and a configurable offline mode.
iSTAR Ultra Video can be used in LAN and WAN environments, and offers secure connectivity over a public network with fully protected gateway software that also enables cloud connectivity.
