International. ONVIF, the world's leading standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, hosted its thirteenth Developer Plugfest from November 11-13 at Dahua Technology's headquarters in Hagnzhou, China.
With multiple testing of ONVIF-compatible products, the Developer Plugfest included interoperability testing for the Release Candidates of Profile Q and Profile A, both scheduled for final release in 2016.
This Developer Plugfest offered member companies the opportunity to check the ONVIF interoperability of their products, through participatory and practical testing, which included testing with third-party products and also testing of user scenarios to simulate the use of ONVIF profiles in the real world. The fall Plugfest attracted 57 technical experts from 25 companies around the world, and attendees logged more than 260 hours of total test time during the three days of the event, in which the interoperability of all ONVIF profiles was verified.
"Attendance at this Developer Plugfest was one of the busiest so far," said Takahiro Iwasaki of Canon, Chair of the ONVIF Technical Services Committee Working Group for the Developer Plugfest. "This is very rewarding, because the more and more members get involved with ONVIF in a practical and collaborative way, the better and more effective ONVIF will be overall. Every ONVIF member has the potential to make valuable contributions to ONVIF and its standards, and it's great to see that collaborative spirit in action at these types of events."
ONVIF held its first Client Test Tool Clinic at the November meeting, which allowed client manufacturers to meet in person and individually with the ONVIF Customer Test Tool provider. At the Developers Plugfest, in addition to the Release Candidate Versions of Profile Q and Profile A, Profile S for IP-based video systems, Profile C for IP-based access control, and Profile G for edge storage and retrieval were also tested.
Founded in 2008, ONVIF now has more than 500 member companies on six continents and more than 5,000 Profiles-compatible products. With profile S for video streaming, Profile G for recording and storage, Profile C for physical access control, Profile A Release Candidate Versions for access control configuration, and Profile Q for easy installation and advanced security features, ONVIF continues to work with its members to expand the number of IP interoperability solutions that ONVIF-compatible products can offer.
