New camera offers infrared with twice the range

Latin America. Axis Communications launched axis P1435-LE, with infrared LEDs to visualize people and objects located at a distance of up to 30 meters, in Full HD resolution, even in total darkness. This is double the scope of axis' previous model, launched in 2014.

The infrared technology developed by Axis, called OptimizedIR, was improved to provide a specific viewing angle of each camera, and provides balanced illumination throughout the area. Its lighting intelligence makes the infrared accompany the movements of the zoom, adjusting continuously.

When a person approaches the camera, the light exposure also adapts little by little without causing overexposure. Moreover, LEDs are activated in the required quantity and intensity, without overheating the camera - as heat can impair image quality over time.

With low power consumption and power over Power Over Ethernet, Axis' optimized infrared is long-lasting. Typically, newer IR illuminators last about 10 years and require no maintenance. However, existing halogen lights on the market can last no more than five months.

Another distinctive feature of these infrared is the generation of images with less noise. These images take up less storage space and reduce costs with storage. In addition to infrared, the new camera has Zipstream technology, which compresses the image beyond the H.264 compression standard. The result is an average 50% reduction in bandwidth and storage requirements.

AXIS P1435-LE also features Lightfinder technology, which captures color images even in low light. Compared to the previous model, the new camera has a more advanced WDR (Wide Dynamic Range), called Forensic Capture, which makes an automatic compensation of the variation of light. Very light or shaded areas are balanced to show everything that happens in the supervised environment, even if the lighting conditions are adverse.

"With AXIS P1435-LE, we are introducing to the market an IP camera with an infrared with twice the range of our previous model, but the range of infrared is not the only important factor when buying such a camera," warns Sergio Fukushima, technical manager of Axis. "It is also necessary to observe how this infrared behaves in relation to the movements of the zoom and the displacements of the objects throughout the scene, as well as the improvements in the quality of the image to reduce the storage and overheating of the camera for greater durability."

The new Axis P1435-LE is available through Axis distribution channels in the region.
