International. For more than a decade, St Wilfrid's Church of England Academy has relied on Panasonic's solutions for its comprehensive security system. Currently, it has 19 WV-SF335 cameras and 17 WV-SF332 devices, as well as the WV-ASM200 video management system and the WJ· ND400.
In 2004, the old Blackburn mill housed in St Wilfrid's Church of England Academy was torn down to make way for a new school, opened in 2007. Even then, Panasonic's technology was chosen for its security system, made up of 25 cameras. The subsequent expansion of the center required the adaptation of this system and in 2009 the infrastructure already had a total of 45 cameras.
Panasonic WV-SF335Years later, Panasonic distributor Catchpoint UK again expanded the security system of the center and, today, consists of more than 80 cameras, with new units incorporated into the existing security infrastructure in 2004.
"We are in the third phase of installation and the total number of cameras in the centre has almost doubled the initial ones, observing a significant improvement in the quality of the images with the new cameras," says Andy Cattanach, director of ICT strategy at St Wilfrid's Church of England Academy.
"We asked Panasonic to visit us to discuss their latest equipment and with their help and advice we have expanded the original system to meet the growing demands it has to face now. A solution that has allowed us to improve the performance of St Wilfrid's system with HD cameras and the most innovative recording platform," says Simon McNamara, Project Coordinator at Catchpoint UK.
Panasonic WV-AS200The latest extension of the center's security system provides live and recorded high-definition (720p HD) images from 19 Panasonic WV-SF335 cameras, located at key points, as well as SVGA images from 17 WV-SF332 cameras distributed elsewhere in the center.
Recently, the WJ· recording software platform has also been installed. ND400 and the WV video management system· ASM200 that allows you to take advantage of the advantages offered by high definition cameras.
Panasonic WJ-ND400In addition to providing the means to detect unauthorized persons on school premises, the security system helps reduce the time teachers spend investigating rare incidents of misbehavior among students.
Security systems in schools prevent vandalism, violence and bullying, help mitigate bad behavior in classes and truancy, as well as prevent theft and the entry of intruders into the school.
The use of a completely IP-based solution at St Wilfrid's instead of a traditional analogue system has made it possible to reduce installation time, savings that revert to the institution in the form of additional funds that can be allocated to educational resources for students and less infrastructure expenditure.
