Latin America. Tyco Security Products, which is part of Tyco, announced the launch of the latest version of its Surveillint Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) Solution, which offers security operation centers unbeatable environmental recognition and communication capabilities through enterprise control menus, contact management, integration with social media and a new module that activates operator alarms based on correlated events.
The new Analysis Module allows alarms to be triggered from combinations of events that are separated in time or space without taking into account superfluous alerts. For example, for a given installation it may be convenient to trigger an alarm only when a combination of sensors, for example, a fencing motion sensor and video analysis, report an event in the same location. The Analysis Module can also notify operator alerts exclusively when events occur that can normally be ignored, for example, triggering an unauthorized access attempt alarm if someone repeatedly tries to enter a protected location using a card at multiple doors.
"We are committed to providing security organizations around the world with as much information as possible about potential threats, while offering them the most agile and cost-effective ways to communicate with their communities," said Glenn Sandford, sales manager for Proximex, part of Tyco Security Products. "Operators can now receive automatic notifications about weather status, earthquake occurrence and other events, and be able to implement an economical mass notification solution," Sandford added. "This feature can be used, for example, to implement an incident reporting system based on a "If you see something, say something" mass collaboration system.
This latest version of Surveillint offers a new development tool that allows implementers to quickly design custom control menus that display real-time operational information from security, building management and enterprise application systems. Security operations centers can, through convenient visualization, monitor the number and types of open alarms, response times, the status of doors, cameras and sensors in the environment, as well as other operational parameters.
"Our customers want to be able to continuously monitor their security and operational situation," said Stephen Moody, business development manager at Irish systems integrator ViS Security Solutions Limited, which deployed Surveillint for a local hospital. "This new ability to design custom control menus that combine data from different security and operational systems will help us meet that need and deliver added value to our customers."
