International. One of New Zealand's largest fitness companies implemented a solution for the automatic management of its access control, tailored to its requirements for security, reliability and efficiency.
This is CityFitness, a brand under which 50 training centers are grouped, which remain open and busy 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In this vein, the client's need was to guarantee agile access to ten of their gyms, preventing unauthorized people from entering them.
The proposed technical solution comprises an automatic high-speed door developed by the manufacturer Dahua. Therefore, taking into account that CityFitness already had an access control system from an external provider, we proceeded to the integration of rotating turnstiles.
"CityFitness chose Dahua because their turnstiles exceeded our expectations. It improves our access control and its anti-backflow technology guarantees a safe environment. The integration and configurability options make it perfect for our needs," said Clint Paul, National Director of Safety at CityFitness.
Specifically, the DHI-ASGB610X-L (left side), Dahua DHI-ASGB620X-D (double lane center), and DHI-ASGB610X-R (right side) swivel turnstile models were installed. This solution is equipped with an accurate people counting feature and infrared sensors with anti-tailgating technology to prevent unauthorized access.
If someone follows a person who enters without swiping the keycard, an alarm is triggered. This feature can be flexibly integrated with third-party platforms, with various access methods available, such as RFID, facial recognition, and QR code scanning.
In addition, it can be easily configured for single or multiple inputs, making it flexible and suitable for a wide range of applications.
AIoT and sustainability, key issues for Dahua
Recently, the company unveiled its Think#2.0 strategy, through which it will drive the development of AIoT solutions in an ever-expanding world of smart digital grids.
According to Dahua, the Think#2.0 strategy embraces the development of digitalization and innovation in cities. This includes improved management and operations, increased public safety, and environmental monitoring. It also establishes how Dahua's Smart Traffic solutions improve the safety and efficiency of road systems, monitor and improve traffic flows, provide real-time information to drivers, and detect traffic violations.
Such solutions include products to reduce carbon emissions and image fusion technology to reduce light pollution in monitored areas. At the same time, other solutions are being used to improve the safety and efficiency of public transport systems, such as DSM cameras and AI-based passenger counting.
"The company used its Five Full capabilities, AIoT, IoT sensing, embedded connections, and other technology competencies to accelerate the digital transformation of cities and businesses. In doing so, Dahua further strengthened its shared ecosystem with its partners, jointly promoting the development of the digital economy and jointly exploring opportunities in the global market. But this commercial success is not achieved in a vacuum: Dahua continues to embrace the dual objective of sustainability and corporate social responsibility, to contribute to the well-being of the environment and society," said Leo An, CEO of Dahua Technology Mexico.
