Eaton certified its network connectivity cards in UL and IEC cybersecurity

Eaton certified

International. Eaton obtained double cybersecurity certification from the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and UL Solutions for its connectivity cards for uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).

These certifications apply specifically to the card's Gigabit Industrial Gateway X2 and Gigabit Network M2 cards, which are network connectivity cards for UPS that have achieved compliance with IEC 62443-4-2 and UL 2900-1 cybersecurity standards.

A relevant issue to understand why the company wanted to be certified is to keep in mind its strategic approach to hardware and firmware, for a secure management of connected assets. In addition, Eaton is focused on ensuring digital transformation with certified cybersecurity products.

Max Wandera, Director of Eaton's Cybersecurity Center of Excellence, commented, "In an increasingly connected world, cybersecurity is an essential capability to protect your business and assets. Our consistent, proactive approach to cybersecurity across the enterprise has led to the industry's first connectivity cards that meet IEC and UL requirements for advanced network protection, prioritizing secure data flow for both hardware and firmware at the point of origin of critical communications network."

Eaton said in a statement that "its solution is designed to help improve the reliability of the power system by providing warnings of potential incidents to administrators and contributes to an orderly shutdown of servers and storage."

Likewise, the brand highlighted that its Gigabit Network M2 cards and the Industrial Gateway "were the first products of their kind to comply with the two rigorous product certifications", underlining the company's ability to meet the strict specifications and expectations of customers. customers for safe food.

Wandera said that "by bringing connectivity to UPS systems found in all critical power environments, we are helping customers remotely access data to manage power system health. With the certification assessment by third parties, customers can have greater peace of mind that the solutions will work securely."

Finally, Eaton said it is expanding its Cybersecurity Perspectives virtual global forum and educational program with new sessions addressing the topic of how to secure critical infrastructure in the midst of digital transformation. The program includes expert-led roundtables focusing on the role of cybersecurity in the energy transition; how to protect IoT solutions; how to navigate the changing cybersecurity regulatory landscape; and the importance of codes and standards in product life cycle management and cybersecurity.
