Brazil. Motorola Solutions recently won a major contract for an undisclosed amount from MetrôRio to provide VB400 body-worn cameras for the safety of employees and passengers on Brazil's rail network.
With train travel gradually accelerating, the contract will provide the necessary means to the operator of the rapid transit network that has an average passage of 510,000 passengers at 41 stations each day to ensure better safety of passengers and employees against any adverse incidents.
VB400 cameras are designed to withstand harsh temperature conditions and the rigors of work. Designed to capture high-quality video from the user's point of view with an intuitive recording function, it provides transparency with extended battery life of up to 12 hours of operation. The device can be securely assigned using an employee's ID card at the beginning of a shift and the user activates it easily, combining Bluetooth sensors with peer-assisted recording.
In addition to live streaming facilities to improve situational awareness, integration with Bluetooth sensors and beacons facilitates automated recording functionality. Motorola will also offer its VideoManager evidence management software to seamlessly upload and manage recorded video as part of MetrôRio's daily workflows. The company will provide 24-hour technical and maintenance support to equip rail employees with an additional layer of operational visibility, improving transparency and protection for passengers and rail personnel across its 58-kilometer rail network.
The body cameras will allow MetrôRio's security team to record audio and video events inside metro stations and during onboard patrols for effective security surveillance. Under the service level agreement, Motorola will manage all software, hardware, repair and replacement services for MetrôRio, thus eliminating the requirement of any initial capital investment for this video-as-a-service solution by the latter.
