Mexico. Aerocharter is a company providing technical, operational and commercial services to support aviation, its main activities are cargo services including handling and storage, supervision and handling of cargo on the platform and warehouse; in addition to ramp operations with loading and unloading options, aircraft movement, cargo assurance and safety, online maintenance, among others.
To strengthen its world-class services, Aerocharter required a video security system, high reliability and state-of-the-art technology, which would allow it to monitor all its processes in an agile way, safeguard the integrity of its assets and that of its customers, in addition to tracking in real time the transfer of packages from collection to delivery in the cargo area in the 48 points nationwide where they currently offer services.
The challenge was accepted by Juan Antonio Álvarez, General Director of Bast Solutions, who presented the proposal with solutions from the Chinese manufacturer Dahua Technology. "The use of Dahua's artificial intelligence technology allowed to meet the needs of Aerocharter, both the part of video surveillance on site and mobile, as well as the requirements of biometric access control to effectively manage the flow of personnel between the various work areas," explained Álvarez.
To date, Dahua Technology's systems have been implemented in 19 of 38 Aerocharter facilities, in addition to a monitoring center in CDMX with a storage capacity of two months, which centrally manages all the information.
With these systems providing greater security in the logistics processes and safeguarding of goods, the commercial relationship between Aerocharter and Viva Aerobús has been strengthened, a company with which an exclusive service called Viva Cargo works.
Artificial intelligence to create intelligent logistics systems
The video surveillance system in warehouses includes PTZ cameras with artificial intelligence that in addition to monitoring allow the use of a box counting algorithm; in ramp services, operators use body cameras that are monitored in real time to ensure best practices in cargo handling; and mobile cameras and recorders are used in collection vehicles to provide video evidence of the transfer processes.
"The implementation of the system in 19 more Aerocharter facilities is still missing, however, with the results obtained, the client is already thinking about expanding the project, for example, the use of long-range cameras is being considered to provide surveillance in the areas furthest from the airports," said the CEO of Bast Solutions.
In addition to the benefits inherent in video surveillance, the direct impact on the business is an added value that Aerocharter has found in Dahua Technology's solutions, for example, it has been possible to minimize the incidence of loss or theft of goods; in ramp areas, worker productivity has increased; in the disembarkation area there is greater care in the handling of luggage and the periodicity in the maintenance of the gondolas that transport the suitcases has been reduced; on ramp assistance lines, the theft of belongings inside the plane's cargo compartment was eradicated.
With access control solutions, you now have a real-time record of the flow of personnel in warehouses, maintenance bases, spare parts warehouses and storage areas for valuable items. So Dahua Technology is helping to have greater control of the activities carried out by the staff and avoid bad practices to the detriment of the company's economy.
"As in all large projects, there were some challenges that we managed to solve with the support of the engineering team of Dahua Technology, particularly in mobile video surveillance issues where we achieved excellent results," explained Álvarez.
Thanks to the new implementations and the results obtained, Aerocharter expanded its business opportunities managing to attract new customers of international stature, such as Lufthansa, Mercado Libre, Mipaquete.com and DHL.
