Argentina. After months of working together with SoftGuard, the Municipality of Perico, in the province of Jujuy, Argentina, launched the Safe Municipality program and the SmartPanics App, which will prevent and avoid cases of gender violence in the city of Perico. The application of citizen protection, municipal management and citizen empowerment can be used from a cell phone.
Luciano Demarco, mayor of the town, explained the importance of the implementation of technological tools for citizen self-management. "Having a software that allows 24-hour assistance and especially for women, is very important for Perico. We have the SoftGuard platform and a limited number of app activations. After they get used to the app, we're sure to expand the scope." The mayor added that "the idea is to do a transversal work between all areas of the Municipality so that they are technologically linked and from the network you can, for example, pay taxes from home." For his part, the Coordinator of the "Safe Municipality" Program, Enzo Rivero, explained that it is an application that allows all areas of the municipality to work together.
SmartPanics is a comprehensive alarm system that allows the resident of Perico to report incidents to the authorities easily and quickly. The App is free and has alarms such as: Panic button, Fire, Social assistance, I accompany you. The app also features collaborative alerts of traffic, waste, damaged luminaires, riots, Covid (symptoms or quarantine violation). In addition, the neighbor may make complaints to the relevant areas through photos, video, audios. Also with the APP you can make payments of municipal rents without leaving the place where the person is.
The application will be directed by the Municipal Monitoring Center, which will contact the presidents of the different neighborhood centers of the city to explain how the neighbors will be able to obtain the application.
The city now has technology and a modern tool for greater security, starting the first plan with neighborhood centers and referents. Perico, is the first Municipality in the province to implement this tool that the company SoftGuard has already implemented in other municipalities of the country such as the Banda del Río Sali in Tucumán, in Escobar and Tigre in the province of Buenos Aires.
