Latin America. LATAM Women in Cybersecurity (WOMCY) and Women in Security & Resilience Alliance (WISECRA) announced the start of nominations for the 'Top Women in Cybersecurity - Latin America 2020' list.
'Top Women in Cybersecurity - Latin America' recognizes leaders who have currently made significant contributions in the industry and open a path for future generations of female professionals. These dedicated professionals cater to all facets of the cybersecurity industry, from sales and marketing to engineering and technical development.
As Leticia Gammill, president of WOMCY, assures, "promoting diversity in cybersecurity is a priority for many organizations and, without a doubt, the most important thing for WOMCY. We need to democratize cybersecurity and recognize industry leaders who are making a difference in Latin America."
According to the 'Women in Cybersecurity' study published by The International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC)², women working in cybersecurity currently make up 24% of the overall workforce, compared to just 11% in 2017.
The report also highlights the fact that women are placing more emphasis on education and certification as a career advancement path, which is a win for this and future generations. The more women who succeed in cybersecurity, the more likely they are to attract other women to the field, which will help meet an acute need, as the cybersecurity skills shortage has reached nearly 4 million worldwide.
The objective of this initiative is to consider those women who deserve the honor of leading the future of cybersecurity in Latin America. Nominations must be made through a registration form available in Spanish, English and Portuguese until May 8. To make your nomination, you can access: Top Women in Cybersecurity.
A diverse panel of judges composed of ten renowned executives from Latin America will evaluate the candidates following an exhaustive evaluation criterion to determine the social and professional scope of their contributions in cybersecurity. WOMCY and WISECRA country leaders are not eligible.
