Colombia. The Mayor's Office of Bogotá confirmed that to date 4,200 security cameras were installed in the city, which exceeded the goal of installing these systems that had been projected since 2016.
However, it is expected that by the end of this year, they will install 1,667 more cameras, which will exceed 5,000 by the end of the year. These solutions will be connected to the space called the Command, Control, Communications and Computing Center – C4.
At the beginning of the current administration, from 2016 and that goes until December 2019, Bogotá had 378 security cameras and some of them with operational problems.
Sources point out that the investment in video surveillance by the administration is around 160,000 million pesos.
"It's a system that is smart today. That it has four fully renovated camera monitoring centers, plus the C4, and so we are monitoring and investigating through video surveillance what is happening in the city and we are seeing results in the dismantling and prevention of crime in Bogotá, "said spokesmen for the mayor's office.
