International. New features and functionality unveiled Mileston Systems through its latest update to the XProtect 2019 R3 video management software.
These include centralized search, new controller environment, adaptive streaming, and improved device password management.
Centralized search
One of the main features of the 2019 R3 release is "Search"," a new centralized search platform from the XProtect Smart Client, which allows users to search for everything from one place. Previously, users performed several independent searches, depending on the data they needed to find. With the new search tool, users can search from one place for movement, alarms, events, bookmarks and other types of information, allowing them to do fast and efficient video searches.
In addition, the new search platform also allows you to seamlessly incorporate partner integrations and powerful analytics capabilities through specialized filtering options. Using add-ins and specific devices, search criteria such as line-crossing and object in field events will be triggered directly in the search tab, saving the user time and increasing efficiency.
Additionally, Milestone Systems offers customers support for more than 8,000 cameras and devices. In order to enable XProtect's device support to grow exponentially, on par with the number of devices offered on the market, as well as to support new types of devices such as IoT (Internet of Things), Milestone Systems introduces this new controller environment.
Milestone's driver environment within the Integration Platform Software Development Kit (SDK) enables device manufacturers, large or small, to develop their own drivers and more quickly support a given device and achieve more comprehensive integration that goes beyond THE capabilities of ONVIF.
Adaptive transmission
This new feature will allow users to receive lower-resolution streams from the recording server when high-resolution streams are not required, for example, when viewing video on the smart client or on the smart video wall in windows smaller than that of a full screen. This will allow users a smoother viewing and give them a better user experience, as well as a lower total cost of ownership (TCO), as less hardware is needed to decode unnecessary high-resolution videos and better use is made of bandwidth that can then be used for other organizational needs.
New device password management feature
This new feature reinforces XProtect's interest in offering ease of use and greater IT security in the configuration of new installations, as well as in the expansion of existing ones. This feature makes it possible for system administrators to manage passwords for all devices directly from the XProtect Management Client for specific device manufacturers. The 2019 R3 update doubles the number of device manufacturers that Milestone supports and adds the option to schedule future password changes based on the pace of organizations and their password policies, allowing device password management to be fully automatic.
