Latin America. There are smart cameras that detect invasions in buildings and residential complexes through automatic alerts, and high-tech video intercoms that authorize the entry of visitors through a Smartphone no matter where in the world the homeowner is.
Colombia, November 2016. Undoubtedly, the end of the year season is the one in which more Colombians decide to take a vacation, generally, at least for a week. However, one of the aspects that arouse the distrust of travelers is the fact of leaving their homes alone.
It is there that technology becomes a vitally important factor when leaving the property alone. Companies such as Axis Communications, creator of the IP camera, strives every day to expand its portfolio of products that provide solutions to different sectors. One of them is residential, which at this time is more vulnerable than at any other time of the year. To avoid situations of risk and theft, the correct video surveillance equipment must be counted and in the appropriate location.
By the end of the year, cities are faced with the existence of a large number of gangs that take advantage of this opportunity to rob homes, when citizens decide to take a few days off. To this end, Axis makes some recommendations to take into account:
Although in many residential areas there is a celaduría service, there is a lack of effective security and surveillance systems. It is important to know if you have the right equipment, in full operation and installed in the spaces most vulnerable to theft. For example, corridors, elevator, rear perimeter, and entrance to parking lots, to name a few.
Andrei Junqueira, regional sales manager of Axis Communications assures that in the case of buildings or residential complexes, which have areas of different area, light and blind spots, it is advisable to verify how the cameras and the light of the site are located, with the aim that they are able to recognize the people who enter and leave the place.
There are, for example, equipment that detects when an individual crosses private perimeters through walls or fences, to which they proceed to issue an audible alert through a digital speaker. At the same time, the video of the entrance will appear on the screen of a control room, ensuring the protection of the area, even at night.
In the case of homes located on the outskirts of cities, it is important to have a correct monitoring of the perimeter areas, which are often near roads, highways or in the open field, which can represent a risk area with the entry of criminals. For that there are advanced video surveillance systems, which in addition to monitoring income, common areas and internal streets, manage to have clear images of these areas, identifying objects or people in movement that cross a virtual line, automatically activating an alarm.
On the other hand, it is advisable to have an IP video intercom, resistant to acts of vandalism and hacker attacks, which transmits the image of the visitor, captured by an HDTV camera, which is displayed on a touch panel so that the entry through the door is authorized or not. This technology works like a true Internet of Things device, allowing, for example, to turn on the lights in the hallway.
A thermal camera, which generates images from the heat of objects, is very useful in these areas, since it allows to detect a person who is at a distance of up to 400 meters approximately, which makes it an ideal equipment for the protection of the perimeter of facilities where the early detection of an intrusion attempt is critical.
Other technologies are also beginning to take hold. This is the case of 4K (four times the resolution of a Full HD image).
The market trend and what the residential sector demands focuses on offering the inhabitants a safer, more reliable and comfortable environment. Therefore, technological products for this purpose must be accompanied by solutions and devices that deliver more and more resources to security personnel.
