Latin America. A behavior that moves between selecting a solution for its cost and a wide reception of IP technology was the finding resulting from the analysis carried out by Network Video Technologies (NVT) during its participation in the last version of the International Security Fair Colombia (E + S + S), which was held in August of this year in the city of Bogotá (Colombia).
In this regard, Jaime Trujillo -NVT Sales Manager for Central America and the Andean Region- said that when it comes to migrating to IP systems, most integrators tend to opt for traditional solutions that involve changing all the installed wiring; this usually represents a large investment of money, labor and time. "Since the technology offered by NVT is recent, it is our duty to train users to know its technical and economic benefits," he added.
The expert also said that there is still a lot of ignorance about technology for security and that is why when they acquire a video surveillance system they opt for the most economical solution, downplaying quality and performance and forcing integrators to reduce material and labor costs, giving way to poor facilities.
However, he also stressed that in Colombia IP technology has been adopted by a large part of the vertical markets. In countries such as Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Honduras, the transition to this new technology has been slower than in other Latin American states.
Pointing out industries, Trujillo pointed out that more and more end users are choosing to acquire a security system (especially video surveillance) because they recognize its benefits and it is no longer considered an expense, to be perceived as an investment and a necessity.
In the future, this expert assured that the reception of IP technology will be greater because thanks to the advantages it offers, it gives way to new needs such as video analytics, decentralization and visualization from anywhere and through multiple devices, etc.
Undoubtedly, for NVT, attendance at security fairs becomes the opportunity to learn about new technologies, attend conferences and meet the needs of users, who had the opportunity to appreciate the company's two new switch lines, which allow IP links with PoE power through coaxial cable and twisted pair telephone type. "Since many end users need to upgrade their analog systems, these lines caused great interest from visitors to the fair," Trujillo concluded.
