Latin America. Thinking about the safety of drivers, passengers and pedestrians, as well as the effective management of traffic operation, CCR AutoBAn, a concessionaire that manages the Anhanguera-Bandeirantes System, located in the State of São Paulo, has a modern Operational Control Center with 98 active monitoring cameras 24 hours a day.
Through high-definition screens, more than 20 specialized professionals remain attentive to the routine of the roads, ready to assist users in various traffic situations. In 17 years of concession, more than 3.4 million services were provided by the SOS User, which has traffic inspection vehicles, cranes, rescues, irrigation and other operational support vehicles.
In order to guarantee full operability, the concessionaire constantly invests in improvements in the Anhanguera-Bandeirantes System, which positions its roads among the best in Brazil, according to the National Transport Confederation (CNT). Among the investments is the technological renewal of its monitoring equipment. Recently, 20 state-of-the-art Bosch cameras, of the MIC series, were acquired, with advanced technological resources for efficient management of the roads, where more than 850 thousand vehicles circulate daily.
"The concessionaire deals with thousands of lives that use the System, being thus, the well-being and comfort of all can be better guaranteed with a technological structure, which in real time, makes it possible to evaluate various situations clearly and precisely," says Eros Brito, Regional Marketing Manager of the Bosch Video Systems Business Unit.
Bosch is a provider of intelligent solutions and services in electronic security and critical communication systems with applications in different sectors and segments, including public monitoring. "Bosch works to always be ahead, supplying technologies with differentials that maximize the results and operability of its customers," says Brito.
According to Odair Tafarelo, Attention Manager of CCR AutoBAn, to monitor traffic, the concessionaire invested in the most modern equipment on the market to assist even more assertively in the identification of critical points and in the decision making according to each occurrence.
"Agility is a determining factor and, through the cameras, we manage to monitor events and activate vehicles and ambulances, for example, or only point out the user about conditions on the tracks, requesting attention and reduction in speed," says Tafarelo. In the Anhanguera-Bandeirantes System there are 34 variable message panels, 250 of which are pre-programmed, which guide motorcyclists for a safer trip.
High quality in night and long-distance images
Bosch MIC starlight cameras have high definition images, captured by sensor with flat glass protection, ideal for not generating distortions in the visualization. In addition to this, it has 30x optical zoom, which represents, in some cases, the capture of objects in high definition at distances of more than two kilometers, in addition to offering excellent performance in low light situations, allowing to obtain night images with wide resolution quality. "In the same scenario, if traditional cameras are used, an infrared illuminator would be necessary every 150 meters," explains Brito.
The installation of the cameras is done in such a way as to allow operations in a 360-degree coverage area without the existence of blind spots, even when near poles or other obstacles. The cameras also withstand adverse weather situations such as humidity, rain, wind gusts, vibration and extreme temperatures that can vary from -40ºC to +60ºC.
Bosch camera technology still allows dynamic and continuous adjustments of contrast definitions, providing highly sharp images of places affected by dense fog, haze or other situations of reduced visibility.
To maintain full operation, meeting the demands of control operations, cameras must be cleaned frequently, especially on roads due to dust and soot. A differential of the Bosch MIC starlight cameras is to facilitate the cleaning procedure on rainy days. By means of a remote command, the operator activates the installed cleaner (wiper) in the camera itself and uses rainwater to clean the lens.
Having greater durability is another aspect of the cameras of the Bosch MIC series, being the average time between failures about 10 years, fato that reduces by up to 70% the value invested, since only for replacement and logistics services to carry out maintenance on tracks reaches, in some cases, 20% of the value of the product. In addition to this, they have belt-free movement system and the motors have no brushes, which allows operation with 7x24 movement without reducing the life of the equipment.
