International. Mobotix has once again been chosen by the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands, to carry out new projects in its facilities, through its official partner in the archipelago, Siempreweb.
The Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands (IAC) is an internationalized Spanish research center selected by the Spanish Government as "Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence". It has two headquarters and two Observatories (the Teide Observatory, on the island of Tenerife, and the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory, on the island of La Palma), in an environment of excellent astronomical quality. As a whole, it constitutes the European Northern Observatory (ENO).
The IAC has its headquarters in La Laguna, where astrophysical research and technological development projects are carried out, a postgraduate school and scientific dissemination. The other headquarters of the IAC is in the Center for Astrophysics of La Palma (CALP), where the Gran Telescopio Canarias and the Magic Collaboration also have their offices.
The IAC has 16 MOBOTIX cameras for more than 10 years. These cameras have been out in the open since then and continue to operate as they did on the first day. They have endured high and low temperatures, winds and rains, and are still in perfect condition.
MOBOTIX cameras do not need motors for the lens or for movement. The lack of moving parts makes them so robust that maintenance is reduced to a minimum. With only 4-5 watts, without heating or fan, the surprising temperature range of -30° to +60°C is reached. Since no computer hard drive is required for recording, there is no consumable in the entire video system.
This is one of many reasons why they have once again trusted MOBOTIX for the new projects that are emerging in the IAC. "When something works as well as MOBOTIX systems do, how are you going to think of another option," says Miquel Serra-Ricart, Administrator of the IAC to Jesús Garzón, Regional Sales Director of Latam and Iberia of MOBOTIX AG and Luis González, Director of SIEMPREWEB, who have been visiting the Institute this week. "We are more than satisfied with the quality of MOBOTIX solutions," continues Serra-Ricart. "10 years of smooth operation guarantees that we are facing cutting-edge and durable technology, so obviously we want to have MOBOTIX for our projects".
For a few months, the company SiempreWeb, official partner of MOBOTIX for the Canary Islands, is working on this new project of the IAC, of which we will have news in a short time due to its originality.
