International. With the aim of creating a secure environment in the female student residence of Istanbul's 29 Mayıs University, which hosts 3,500 students, Samsung's WiseNetIII cameras have been installed as part of an IP video surveillance solution.
Founded in 2010 by the Turkish Religious Foundation (TDV), the University is dedicated to the sciences and aims to create an international environment with students and academics from Central Asia, the Caucasus and the Balkan countries.
The student residence is a smart building that, in addition to using renewable energy technologies, incorporates the latest security solutions. That's why it was vital to install Samsung's most advanced network cameras.
Samsung's 350 2 MP and Full HD (1080p) WiseNetIII network cameras that have been installed in the student residence include the SNV-6084R, SND-6083P and SND-6011R domes, and the SNO-6084R bullet camera. All of these models (minus the SND-6083P) feature built-in infrared LEDs. They have been installed in the social club and in three residential buildings, both inside and in the adjoining areas where, and in order to respect the privacy of the students, they have been configured with privacy masks.
Images from the cameras are recorded on SRN-4000 network video recorders, which allow authorized personnel to quickly retrieve videotaped footage so that they can serve as expert evidence of any suspicious activity. The SRN-4000 can record and play back multiple images at once at a high bandwidth speed of 400 Mb/s. It also allows you to record and store, on its 12 internal hard drives, videos recorded from 64 2-megapixel cameras for up to 108 days.
The video surveillance system has been configured so that authorized personnel can receive by email, alerts of alarm events and system failures.
Samsung's cameras and camcorders were purchased through NFS Teknoloji, Samsung Techwin Europe's distributor in Turkey, and were installed by Elektronet Elektrik Elektronik San.
