Colombia. In the coming weeks in Medellín, the third phase of Online Security will be put into operation, a tool with which the authorities hope to be more forceful in the coups and the fight against crime, in all its manifestations, in the capital of Antioquia.
The announcement was made by the mayor, Aníbal Gaviria Correa, and the manager of the Urban Security Company -ESU-, retired Colonel Ricardo Salgado.
In this third generation, the great ally will be technology as an essential agent for the provision of information on complaints and contribute to investigators and prosecutors.
"The third generation seeks to accompany the work of researchers who support prosecutors to make it much more efficient through the concept of artificial intelligence," said the Mayor.
It is an artificial intelligence software that will serve to cross useful information that will allow linking facts and situations that are repeated in the commission of certain crimes to go beyond the specific case, such as the theft of a cell phone or a car, or a homicide, and get to the bottom.
"In another phase of Online Security we brought justice to the citizen for their complaints, but we had to go further. This third phase will allow you to read the complaints and find matches in an organized way. Criminality today is not loose but is associated with organizations, gangs or repetition of facts," Salgado said.
The license plate of a car that participates in several crimes, a telephone number, a person or the description of a person in several cases, will be common threads to get to the bottom of the criminal chain.
