International. On October 27, the new building of the Louis Vuitton Foundation opened its doors to the public, after extensive work that began in 2008. The organization's goal is to promote art, culture and shelter a permanent collection of artworks from the personal collection of Bernard Arnault, president and CEO of LVMH. As part of the modern and new building, Boon Edam has installed four revolving doors from its Tourniket line.
The building was designed by the American-Canadian architect Frank Gehry, known for the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, among many other projects, and is located in the Jardin d'Acclimatation in the Bois de Boulogne, in Paris, this glass building, 48 m high, simulates a sailboat whose sails unfold in the wind. The building consists of 3,584 glass panels, with a total area of 13,500 m2 and an overhang of more than 20 m above the door.
The project's approach based on environmental protection has made it the perfect pilot project for a new sustainability certificate for cultural buildings, developed by HQE®. The High Quality Environmental Standard (HQE) is the French standard for green buildings, based on international principles of sustainable development.
The installation of revolving doors is one of the many examples in which design and development are incorporated into this building with the commitment to environmental protection. The four Tourniket revolving doors were supplied by Boon Edam and are of a unique reference. Two of them were installed at the north entrance and the other two at the south entrance of the building.
