Peru. The director general of the National Police, Raúl Salazar, announced the upcoming installation of video surveillance cameras in police stations in Lima and the provinces; as well as the strengthening of Central 105, in order to better respond to emergencies.
Salazar explained that the cameras "will allow us to know what is happening in the police stations," but also on the roads where these delegations are located.
The installation of the cameras will be progressive, both in Lima and in the provinces, he added, welcoming that district municipalities are installing such equipment in their jurisdictions in order to ensure security.
Salazar also announced that the Emergency Center 105 will be strengthened with new cameras and a modern telephone system, so that it receives up to 2,000 emergency calls in a single day.
"With all normality the calls will enter and (people) will not have to wait to report the emergencies," he said, after acknowledging that the current cameras are old and fail.
