Argentina. The Municipality of La Plata continues to install video surveillance cameras in different strategic points of the city, to provide solutions to the problems of insecurity that the residents of La Plata and surroundings may have.
The eleven new chambers, located in the Club Sporting on Calle 11 between diag. 77 and 40, are already in operation, and are part of the new method used by the commune, which incorporates technology as a tool for preventing and combating crime.
Three years ago the municipality launched the Urban Monitoring Center as a tool of the Comprehensive Safety Plan planned for the city in terms of prevention on public roads.
Today there are more than two hundred cameras installed by the Municipality and it is expected that by the end of the year the number will rise to three hundred.
Located at the intersection of 9th Street between 46 and Diagonal 74, its objective is to perform a preventive task through the location of cameras in strategic public places, determined from the crime map that the authorities of the security area have prepared.
According to the data provided by the Communal Chief: "More than 800 cases could be detected in prevention and in specific crimes, in a joint work between the municipality, the National Government, the work of the Police of the Province and the Justice."
