Argentina. Several biometric identification systems, specifically fingerprint readers, will be installed at the entrances to football stadiums in Argentina to prevent the entry of fans with criminal records, a new initiative that seeks to curb the violence that plagues the most popular sport in the country.
President Cristina Fernández presented the Biometric Access System for Sports Shows (Sabed), which consists of the delivery to the clubs of about 100 laptops to which the data of people with denied access to the stadiums will be uploaded.
"Those who enter the stadiums will have to place their fingerprints and there it will be detected whether or not they can enter. The system will start in place from the last weekend of August," the government said in a statement.
At present there is a list of right of admission prepared by the security agencies based on the information provided by the clubs about their own barrasbravas, or violent fans. The system has been ineffective since the control in the accesses to the stadiums that the police carry out is with photographs and there were cases of fans who modified their physical appearance and were able to pass.
The leaders also refuse to request the right of admission to the violent for fear of reprisals.
The computers that the government will distribute will have a special program that will allow to detect with the fingerprint the people who are prosecuted and / or convicted of crimes related to the Law of Violence in Football or those to whom the clubs apply the right of admission.
