Ecuador. Correos del Ecuador installed a complete video surveillance system, which has allowed it to significantly increase its security standards in terms of sending non-permitted items.
Since the implementation of the new IP video surveillance system, it has been possible to capture heavy caliber weapons, assault rifles, bullets, drugs, pornography and fake money, according to the president of the entity, Roberto Cavanna.
With the help of the manufacturer D-Link, cameras were installed in all areas of the company in the 24 provinces. In a second stage, they will be located inside the trucks and windows to mitigate the problem of drug trafficking, Cavanna said.
D-Link works with the group of postal inspectors and the National Police. The cameras capture, with total fidelity, the images and allow to see the nervousness of the people carrying contaminated packages, the official said.
