Colombia. With security cameras, which will be part of the city's video surveillance system, especially in schools, shops, buses and in the historic center, Barranquilla authorities seek to reduce crime.
The merchants and the Police Commander agreed to the location of security cameras in strategic areas of the Central District with the purpose of reducing assaults on commercial establishments.
In the same way, these devices will be installed, which will be connected to the local Police Dispatch Center, in 60 schools where the presence of gangs that have been threatening students and teachers has increased.
The program, which includes the installation of surveillance cameras in buses, shops and shopping malls, will be funded by the government.
The initiative is implemented in the face of the increase in complaints from people belonging to the guild of merchants of the city and the community in general, for the case of robberies and the action of criminal groups in the center and commercial sectors.
