Ecuador. ImageWare Systems and the Republic of Ecuador have signed a contract for this company to be in charge of implementing scanning security in the country's cargo seaports.
The company will employ its biometrics-based credentials product in combination with Biometric Engine 2.0, its biometric software platform, for this work. The implementation of this biometric identity product is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2012.
The project will begin in the city of Guayaquil, where the most important import and export port in Ecuador is located, where the registration and issuance of credentials of port employees, contractors, sellers and visitors who have access to cargo areas can be carried out safely.
This contract will also help the country's port authorities comply with the requirements of the U.S. Safe Port Act of 2006. The seven-year agreement is expected to generate more than U.S. $ 3,000,000 million.
