Argentina. Intersec Buenos Aires, which will be held from August 15 to 17 at La Rural Fairgrounds in this city, will once again have exhibiting companies dedicated to the development of biometric products and services.
Regarding trends, Marcelo Sosa, General Manager of ZKTeco Argentina, commented that "fingerprint readers and storage and recognition algorithms have improved markedly. Now facial recognition has been added with very fast and reliable identification systems but they need to improve storage capacity. Also facial recognition for mass movement of people or places of high security, which of. the hand of CCTV IP cameras, continues to improve also and more solutions are being achieved".
To accompany this growth, in Argentina the Federal System of Biometric Identification for Security (SIBIOS) was created in November 2011 since the use of biometric techniques is a fundamental contribution to the functions of public security and judicial investigation. This new body contributes to the development of efficient prevention policies and the improvement of the investigation procedures required by judicial authorities.
Both government entities and identification technologies continue to grow and develop to meet market demands. This is demonstrated by a study carried out by the Argentine Chamber of Electronic Security (CASEL) where it is stated that the electronic security market has reached sales of 488 million dollars in 2011. This figure considers the total value of Electronic Security products and services acquired by the different segments of final demand (companies, households, governments and public administration, private neighborhoods, consortia, etc.)
