Colombia. Thanks to the investment of the city's security agencies, at the head of the Surveillance and Security Fund, the Colombian capital will be equipped with 1,999 security cameras before the end of 2012.
Currently, the Metropolitan Police of Bogotá ensures the security of seven million inhabitants through 420 cameras. The new devices will send their images to four new monitoring centers, which will be equipped with the latest technology.
The electronic eyes will be installed in different parts of the city, the cameras of patrols and motorcycles; domes in official colleges and border chambers.
The Surveillance and Security Fund has also worked on the integration of technology between communications, video surveillance and the emergency line 123, coordinated by the Ministry of Government of Bogotá.
The project in general proposes the acquisition of the equipment, elements and spare parts necessary for preventive and eventual corrective maintenance; it also seeks to update, adapt and strengthen the current systems.
