Argentina. Since the National Directorate of Migration, in charge of the Interior portfolio, began to implement, almost two months ago, the use of biometrics in the immigration control of the Ezeiza international airport reached one million records between income and expenses with this advanced technology.
A figure that if the total number of transits in the Metropolitan Area (Ezeiza, Aeroparque Jorge Newbery and Buquebus) is taken into account, stands at 1,400,000 records.
The procedure consists of the digital capture of the photograph and fingerprint, the scanning of the travel document that allows the electronic taking of the patronymic data, and the digital signature of the inspector who finally seals the passport and enables the exit or entry.
All this converges in a solution that, in less than a minute, completes the immigration service under strict security regulations.
The biometrics linked to the Integral System of Migratory Capture (Sicam) of Migrations, acquires in this first stage in the metropolitan terminals an enormous relevance because it means a vanguard step, which places Argentina among the most developed countries in the matter, and allows, at the same time, to increase the levels of security and control.
