Mexico. To reinforce security in the Cathedral of Cordoba and prevent theft, the administration of the temple began the installation of a complete video surveillance system. It will include all areas of the temple.
The security measures were adopted after two robberies, in one they stole the Sacred Form (although later they returned it), the virile (which holds the Sacred Form, and two chalices.
The video surveillance system includes 12 cameras, motion sensors and alarm for better protection.
Sources from the Cathedral of Cordoba indicated that due to the recurrent robberies they saw the need to install this video surveillance system, in order to deter and identify the outbreaks of insecurity that are experienced in the city and in which unfortunately the churches are not alien.
The video surveillance system will be extended to the Cathedral, offices, sacristy, bathrooms, bookstore and the outside of the atrium.
The parish priest Lázaro Prado pointed out that a system of this type was already necessary, because despite being in the Historic Center the Cathedral was already the object of several robberies. For some time he requested the reinforcement of surveillance by elements of the Municipal Police, but now he considered that there will be more security in the Cathedral. "
