Axis Communications maintains its position as a leader in the network video market and also occupies for the first time in its history the number one position in the category of surveillance cameras. This is confirmed by the latest report by IMS Research 2012, the market research and consulting institute of the electronics industry worldwide.
The 2012 edition of IMS's annual Research Report is based on data reported for 2011 and contains extensive information on suppliers that supply analog and digital video surveillance equipment, such as cameras, recording solutions and video encoders.
"The report confirms our own assessments of the market shares obtained last year, in which the company presented a growth of 33%," said Ray Mauritsson, president and CEO of Axis Communications, who also indicated that "we have further strengthened our position by continuing our strategy, which is based on three pillars: Launch of innovative network video products, a network of well-developed partners and global expansion."
According to IMS Research, 2011 sales are estimated to have reached US$10.5 billion and are also forecast to grow at a compound average growth rate (CAGR) of 14% to reach US$20.5 billion in 2016.
The study further states that the growth of network video products will be approximately 24% over the next five years.
In 2016, network camera sales are projected to account for approximately 60% of total worldwide sales for surveillance cameras, compared to about 40% market share in 2011.
