Argentina. On September 20 and 21, specialists and officials from Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia, Panama, Canada and the United States will gather in the Argentine municipality of Vicente López to analyze the latest experiences in citizen security.
For the organizers of the "Latin American Congress of Observatories, Promising Practices and Results in Local Citizen Security", the sharing of these problems is of great interest to the region, given the increase in violence and insecurity in most cities.
Gustavo Sicca, coordinator of the Congress, explained that the objective of the conference is to be able to advance in "a citizen security understood from an integral perspective."
The event will be developed under four fundamental thematic axes: security observatories as an outstanding tool, the political perspective of citizen security, the latest trends in the area and effective practices, among which those of cities such as Bogotá, Colombia, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil stand out.
Among the keynote speakers will be Sergio Cabral, governor of that Brazilian state, and Robson Rodrígues Da Silva, head of the Pacification Police Unit; Hugo Acero Velásquez, Undersecretary of Security and Coexistence of the Colombian capital; and Sergio Pacheco González, head of the Security and Coexistence Observatory of Ciudad Juárez, in Mexico.
