Brazil. The Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, one of the largest in that country, has installed a traffic monitoring system with 30 High Definition cameras of the H and M series of Infinova, which replace a series of cameras from other manufacturers. The system provides immediate response assistance, including police and rescue teams when accidents or stranded travelers occur. The new surveillance system was created with DigiFort, a software developed in Sao Paulo, which created the software for monitoring and management of IP cameras as well as intelligent video analysis.
Images are stored on a variety of servers including some from IBM, HP and Dell. Only one local TV channel is located in the same building where the control room with the traffic system is located. From the central administration the video signals are sent to the local station to provide traffic reports that show traffic flows and critical points.
